CORONADO LAWN BOWLING CLUB

The Coronado Lawn Bowling Club (CLBC) was started in 1935 at 7th & D Ave. featuring a typical grass green.  That Green was lost when the Library was expanded but the City promised and delivered a new world class artificial green, which was dedicated in March 2010 at the same location on the Corner of 7th and D Ave., next to the library and across from the high school.  The Coronado Lawn Bowling Club holds a Permit to Use the Green, which  is also open to the public.  All San Diego County residents are welcome to come for a free lesson by appointment.  Call (619)319-5509 for your FREE LESSON.

First Annual Coronado Mixed Triples

The new John D. Spreckels Center and Bowling Green facility opened for use in April, 2017 following the demolition and complete reconstruction of the building.  Thus, for the first time in 80 years, the Bowling Green finally has an official name.  The Green itself remained opened during the 2016 period of construction.

The CLBC is a non-profit partner with the City of Coronado in the programming of the new facility, which  includes a  room that the CLBC can use to stage bowling activities  as well as  storage facilities for the bowls and green equipment.

We are all grateful to John D. Spreckels who, among other philanthropic projects in Coronado, donated the land on which the new facility was built and where the green is located.   For more information regarding the tournaments, events, socials and other plans for 2023, please consult the Calendars.
